LEARNING TO SAIL ON A REALLY WINDY DAY

by Noel Martin, 2007

See how they sway,
Tossing, frothing with spray,
Exhorting their fellows,
"Get out of the way!"

Up picks the wind,
One small sailboat upends,
Splashing into the waves,
Two sailors it sends.

Teetering mast,
A gust worse than the last,
Threatening novices,
The seconds fly past.

Quick as a wink,
There's two more in the drink,
What squeals of delight,
It's good they can't sink.
